Benefits of Creativity

When most people think of creativity, they think of artists and musicians.  There are, however, so many more ways we can be creative in our lives.  Including creativity in our every day has been proven to increase positive emotions, lessen depressive symptoms, reduce stress, decrease anxiety, and even improve immune system functioning.

I believe we are all born as creative human beings.  Unfortunately for some of us along the way we lose our appreciation for being creative.  Perhaps we were not encouraged as a child to be creative and think outside the box.  Maybe we were criticized for our creativity and therefore, as a defense mechanism, we buried our creativity deep inside ourselves.

Whatever the reason, if you do not have a creative outlet in your life today, you need to take some time and figure out how you can become more creative.  Doing this will make your life more interesting and fulfilling. Creativity is a way of living life that welcomes originality and makes connections between seemingly contrasting ideas. The most creative people find ways around obstacles because they see them not just as roadblocks but also as opportunities.  This quality tends to make creative people more successful in their endeavors.  

In order to be successful, you need to trust yourself that you will be able to find ways to achieve your goals.   It is through your creativity that you will find the many paths that will lead to your success. Creative thinkers tend to find ways to improve constantly by demonstrating tenacity as they refuse to let obstacles prevent them from triumph.

It is exciting to figure out how we want to be more creative in our every day lives.  The benefits of creativity are felt immediately.  Especially during this pandemic and quarantine, it is important to do all we can to reduce our stress and decrease our anxiety.  Set aside time each day for you to express yourself creatively.  Start with baby steps – put on some soft music, close your eyes and open your mind.  You will find out where your creativity will lead you.
